For a limited time only, the Victorian Skittle Alley at the Old Royal Naval College will be open to the public, for free, at weekends.
The Ripley Tunnel, also known as the Chalk Walk, provides a rapid weatherproof route between the Painted Hall and the Chapel and is reached by an elegant spiral staircase.
Just off the tunnel is a basement room that was originally used as an infirmary. It was converted into the Skittle Alley in about 1864, intended to relieve the boredom of the pensioners.
Now you can have a go on this remarkable Alley - playing with traditional wooden skittles and bowling using old wooden practice cannonballs!
