Whether you are hosting a small private meeting, a formal dinner or a stylish wedding, we have the perfect space at the Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) to suit your event.
The Painted Hall is often described as “the finest dining hall in Europe”. James Thornhill spent 19 years decorating its ceilings and walls with allegorical scenes celebrating the British monarchy and maritime power.
Today the Painted Hall is available as a spectacular venue for your events and can accommodate up to 400 persons. It is available from 16.30 to 23.00 Monday to Sunday. The hire of the Painted Hall includes the use of the King William and/or the Queen Mary Undercrofts for dancing and bar afterwards.

Under the Chapel lies the Queen Mary Undercroft, an ideal venue for a pre-dinner drinks reception and post event dancing. This flexible space has high vaulted ceilings and a built in bar facility and can hold up to 300 people.
It is available from 17.00 and is licenced until 23.00 (extension possible until 1.00).

The King William Undercroft is located under the Painted Hall and subtly combines high vaulted ceilings with a contemporary atmosphere. It can accommodate up to 120 people and is ideal for meetings, conferences and parties.
The King William Undercroft has a built in bar and dance floor and a capacity of up to 120 guests for a dinner or as a place to dance. It is also licenced for weddings and civil ceremonies. The King William Undercroft is available 21.00 to 23.00 (extension possible until 1.00).

This Victorian skittle alley with original skittles and bowling balls was built for use by naval officers once based here.
It offers a very atmospheric experience and is ideal for a cocktail reception for up to 80, or a bit of light entertainment after a busy conference.

Admiral’s House is one of the earliest of the ORNC buildings. It was built for Charles II, and Samuel Pepys once worked here.
With its fine Georgian rooms and period features, it offers an intimate setting and breath-taking views over the River Thames. Admiral’s House can accommodate up to 50 guests and is ideal for board meetings, training, team-building meetings and lunches.
The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies. There are several rooms within Admiral’s House giving you flexibility to have the ceremony, drinks reception and the wedding breakfast all in different areas.
Admiral's House is available for hire either during the day, 11.00 to 14.00 or 16.00 to 23.00.

The lawns and courtyards are also available as a venue for marquees to accommodate larger numbers. They offer a flexible environment for team building events.
The colonnades can be used in conjunction with other venue spaces, including the Painted Hall, Queen Mary and King William Undercrofts to ensure your guests enjoy the full grandeur of the venue.

Centred on a spectacular model of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre exhibition explores over 500 years of history. Displays of rare artefacts, film footage and interactive models tell the story of the ORNC and Maritime Greenwich.
The exhibition celebrates the site's distinctive history and architecture; from Henry VIII's Tudor Palace, Wren's Royal Hospital for Seamen to the Royal Naval College and modern day Greenwich.
