Painted Hall The finest dining hall in Europe
Experience the splendour of the Painted Hall, often described as 'the finest dining hall in Europe'. Sir James Thornhill spent 19 years painting its ceilings and walls, decorating them with allegorical scenes celebrating the British monarchy and maritime power.
It was here in 1806 that the body of Admiral Lord Nelson lay in state following his death at the Battle of Trafalgar.
