ESOL Highlights Tour

Explore the Old Royal Naval College on this interactive tour. Find out what life was like for Greenwich Pensioners at the Royal Hospital for Seamen in the 18th century, explore the site’s impressive art and architecture in the Chapel and Painted Hall and find out what happens here today.  Finish with a game in the Victorian Skittle Alley.

Additional comprehension activities can be integrated including a ‘quiz’ in the Painted Hall.

Exploring the Thames

Visit the Thames foreshore to look for and describe archaeological objects, and find out why the River Thames is so important to London.

Themed visits for embedded courses and young learners

We can tailor visits for ESOL embedded with other subjects including Adult Health & Social Care (visits with a medical historical focus) and Construction (find out about the care and conservation of the buildings).

Activities can also be tailored for young ESOL learners to fit in with your curriculum.

Seasonal visits

Celebrate the end of term and visit for a Christmas or Easter themed visit exploring art and design at the ORNC and share understanding about other festive cultural celebrations.

Making My Mark: Project with Young Learners

‘Journeys’ animation project with Young Learners

In summer 2014, a class of 15 – 19yr learners at Lewisham Southwark College designed and created an animation inspired by stories and art work in the Chapel.

'We Got Up Close: Today’s generations thinking about the past’
