Clem Beer: A View of London
27th October – 25th November 2012
Open daily 10am – 5pm
Meet the artist every Sat/Sun from 2 – 5pm.
Exhibition Gallery, Discover Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College

The exhibition brings together, for the first time, all Clem Beer’s unique paintings, prints and drawings of iconic London landmarks, created from his very personal viewpoint. “I am interested in overturning the conventional viewpoint of perspective and allowing my work the freedom to find new patterns and rhythms of a more personal vision,” says the artist.

Spanning over 50 years, from the early 60s until the present day, his views of London are celebratory, full of life, energy and humour. All the work is for sale at prices to suit every pocket.

Clem Beer studied drawing, painting and architecture at the Slade School of Art and returned to the college as a postgraduate student in the late 60s to study printmaking. He was Head of Art at the Central London Institute in Fleet Street and later became Chairman of the Printmakers Council. He has exhibited throughout the UK including the Royal Academy, Singer and Friedlander Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition at the Mall Gallery and the Cutty Sark. His work is in public collections that include Greenwich Library, Guildhall London, Graphotek Berlin and York City Art Gallery.
