The Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre at the Old Royal Naval College has been shortlisted for the Visit London Awards 2010 for the Best New Tourism Experience Award. According to Visit London, the annual awards, celebrating the best of hotels, attractions, events and tourism, received a record number of entries for the 11 judged categories.

Opened in March 2010, the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre is a brand new tourism experience and enriches Maritime Greenwich and London as a destination for visitors.  It offers for the first time an orientation point for one million visitors a year to the Old Royal Naval College and Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site.

The Best New Tourism Experience category celebrates the fantastic new tourism experiences offered to visitors to London and is open to any tourism offering that has opened or undergone significant development or transformation in the last three years.

Discover Greenwich has been shortlisted in the Best New Tourism Experience category alongside:  

1. Centre of the Cell
2. Jewish Museum London Reopening
3. Fourth Plinth - Antony Gormley's One and Other by Mayor of London in partnership 
        with Artichoke
4. The Galleries of Modern London at Museum of London
5. Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre at Old Royal Naval College
6. SEA LIFE London Aquarium
7. Medieval and Renaissance Galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum
8. Rainforest Life / Night Life at ZSL London Zoo

The three top category winners (Gold, silver and bronze) will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the new Bloomsbury Big Top on 8th December 2010.
