The culmination of the Great British Menu series 7 will be the broadcast of the Olympic Feast. Hosted by one of the UK’s most successful sportsmen of modern times, Sir Steve Redgrave, the feast took place in the glorious setting of the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College. After weeks of slaving over hot stoves the winning chefs came over to Greenwich last month to cook their four extraordinary dishes for 100 guests including a host of great British Olympians.

“We were delighted that the Great British Menu Olympic Feast was hosted in The Painted Hall,” says Brendan McCarthy, CEO of the Old Royal Naval College. “This series of the popular programme celebrated the supreme efforts made by British Olympians and what better setting for the feast than the Painted Hall, which took an Olympian effort to complete. Artist Sir James Thornhill dedicated almost 20 years of his life to making this spectacular painted interior for Sir Christopher Wren’s Royal Hospital for Seamen. It is now the jewel in the crown of the Old Royal Naval College, attracting thousands of visitors every year.”

The Great British Olympic Feast will go out on BBC2 at 7pm on Friday 8 June 2012.
