March 2012

In January 2012 teachers from Deansfield Primary School came to the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site for an InSET day to discover more about the unique cultural heritage of the site.

Teachers from Deansfield Primary School focussed on ways to develop a long term relationship with the site and to encourage children to have a sense of ownership of their local area.

The teachers then planned a three-week scheme of work which included a visit to either the Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) or the National Maritime Museum.  Each year group looked at a different aspect of Greenwich’s history, architecture and landscape – past, present and future, and the whole school visited the site during January and February.

Back at school each class produced a display. Read more about the project or take a look at the wonderful work
