Staff Responsibilities:  None

Key Relationships: Visitor Experience Manager,  Volunteer Coordinator,  Volunteers, PE Administrator                                 

Working Hours: Fixed term, January – August. 750 hours annualised.

Working days/hours according to contract agreement, Monday to Sunday.   The post holder will be required to work at weekends and be available for bank holiday and evening working.  They post holder may be required to work additional days per year to cover other Ambassadors leave and training days.

Salary and Benefits:                 £9.08 per hour

Up to 10% employers pension contribution

25 days holiday pa rising by 1 day per year to a maximum of 30 pro       rata

The Old Royal Naval College is one of London's most famous riverside landmarks and attracts approximately 1.7 million people each year.  The unique spaces of the Painted Hall, regarded as Europe’s finest dining hall, and the neoclassical Chapel are complemented by our hands-on and interactive permanent exhibition in the Visitor Centre.

 About the role:

Ambassadors engage with visitors to enrich their experience and make them feel part of the ORNC. They are visitor-focussed at all times, welcoming new and repeat visitors, and providing a consistently excellent and enjoyable experience for all audiences. Ambassadors encourage visitors to interact with the art, architecture and history of the ORNC, through both independent exploration and participation in public events and learning activities.  They are sensitive to the needs and interests of groups and individuals, and share understanding about the ORNC in a lively and engaging manner. 

Ambassadors will support the organisation’s strategic vision by introducing key conservation messages, helping visitors to discover more, supporting learning and access at the ORNC, and by promoting fundraising aims to encourage sentiments of support. Ambassadors are responsible for maintaining daily safety and security procedures, ensuring that the site operates efficiently every day. The role involves ongoing communication, cross-departmental team working, and prioritisation of visitor care.
