Community & Outreach Officer

 Term:                          Two year fixed term contract

Salary:                        £26,000pa pro rata plus benefits

Working Hours:        Three days per week, Monday to Sunday, 09.00 to 17.00.  The post holder will be required to be available for occasional weekend, bank holiday and evening working to suit the seven day operation of our site.

Place of Work:           Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich

 The Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) in Greenwich is looking for a talented and innovative Community & Outreach Officer who will be responsible for engaging our local community in the history and stories of the ORNC, particularly by building on our successful ESOL programme.  The successful candidate will develop new ways in which people from all backgrounds and influences explore our site, frequently working with local groups, partners and experts, so that learners are able to develop skills, acquire new points of interest and take part in social activity. 

We are located within the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site and include the Painted Hall, regarded as Europe’s finest dining hall, the neoclassical Chapel and our visitor centre. 

 The ORNC is currently working on a transformational project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, focusing on conservation, improved visitor routes, activities and interpretation.  The project is driving new opportunities for inclusive practice and participation for a range of audiences, in collaboration with expert partners. The successful candidate will have a significant role in the delivery of the project outcomes.   

The Community & Outreach Officer is based in the Public Engagement Department which also includes the Learning, Interpretation, Visitor Experience and Volunteering teams.
