Support us Volunteer Volunteering opportunities Painted Hall Conservation Volunteer Term: At least one day a week for a minimum of six months. Some weekend hours will be required on a rota system Location: Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich The Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) is located within the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site and currently has 100 volunteers supporting our work. We are currently working on a transformational project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, focusing on the conservation of the Painted Hall. This is one of the most ambitious conservation projects of a painted historic interior ever undertaken. The ORNC wants to recruit and train 100 more volunteers to help us achieve our goal of inviting members of the public on unique tours to explore the conservation work taking place. Working as part of the project team, you will act as key personnel for the conservation project and ensure that visitors to the Painted Hall have an enjoyable, interesting and safe visit. Visitors will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in scaffolding tours which will take them right to the top of the scaffold enabling them to get up close to such a rare project. There are two roles you can take on as a Painted Hall Project volunteer: Above Deck, leading and explaining on tours, and Below Deck, supporting the tours and making sure they happen. The project will run from September 2016 – January 2019 and we are looking to start training for this role in mid-January 2017.
