Message from HRH The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO, President, Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College.

One of the most significant aspects of buildings is that, if they are carefully built, they can last for centuries and thereby give us a very strong link with generations of the past. The buildings at Greenwich were created to make an important impression on those who came there, and do so even more today.

The Old Royal Naval College is a remarkable place, and the renaissance of the site over the last decade has been managed admirably by the Greenwich Foundation.

So much has been done to restore the historic buildings and grounds, and the site has now become one of London’s great public spaces, used by thousands of people each day.

It was therefore with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation to become President of the Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College. During the next few years the Foundation is committed to delivering its programme of work to ensure the long-term future of these buildings, and I am delighted to give it my full support.

This website sets out what has so far been achieved by the Greenwich Foundation, and indicates the projects still to come. To achieve its charitable objectives, the Foundation needs the engagement and generosity of people who share its aims.

I invite you to join me in supporting the Greenwich Foundation in whatever way you can.
