The Old Royal Naval College is Sir Christopher Wren’s riverside masterpiece: a famous British landmark which encompasses some of the finest buildings in the world. We bring this spectacular site alive by revealing pivotal events in British history and working creatively with our partners

Currently the staff and volunteers at the Old Royal Naval College are working on a project to conserve the Painted Hall.  As part of this project we have planned many activities to encourage members of the public to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. One of these projects is to organise a series of interdisciplinary ‘Late’ events exploring the Painted Hall from new prospectives through music, art, debates and performance. We are seeking up to 7 Greenwich University Events Management students to plan, develop, create and deliver one of these ‘Late’ events to be held in the Painted Hall in spring 2018.

Volunteer Tasks:

  • Take part in research of ‘Late’ activities of other museums across London to gain inspiration
  • Create an idea for a multi-art form event that will delight and intrigue visitors and encourage them to visit the Painted Hall
  • Put ideas into practice and develop a detailed programme to guarantee the success of the ‘Late’ event
  • Market the event to target audience
  • Work on the night of the event from set-up to clear-up
  • Complete an informal learning journal

Time Commitment:

Average of 2 sessions per month, (these may be meetings, workshops) working on the event itself. 90% of sessions must be attended

Training and Support:

  • A full induction, in-house training and support from experienced heritage professionals
  • Travel cost of up to £10.00 per day and £3.50 towards lunch for a shift of 5 hours or more.
